A fanbase that has grown up from the mud

Xerez supporters showed against Cádiz that they are an exemplary fanbase, forged through years of suffering.

Yesterday the true supporters of Jerez showed that they are an exemplary fanbase. After years of suffering and uncertainty, it proved itself worthy of a Primera División fanbase.

First of all, there were no incidents, and that shows that the Xerez fanbase has matured: inside the ground everything gets said, yes, but when it is over everyone can go home. Yesterday there were lots of children with expectant faces, because they had never experienced anything like it.

From Los Cortijillos to a full Chapín

That maturity did not come on its own. It was earned at grounds like Los Cortijillos or La Bazán, far from the big stadiums, on afternoons when Xerez fans travelled for their team without asking for anything in return. Grounds like those make a fanbase grow up and teach it to value its team even more. Anyone who was there knows what a night like yesterday is worth.

Now, the next big away following we will welcome will be the Recre fans, who will come in greater numbers, and we will once again be a fanbase with class. And I hope it will be with a stadium as full as yesterday.
