Xerez CD head coach Abel Segovia called for sharper finishing for Sunday's match against Marbella (19:00, Chapín), a direct rival level on 6 points. He confirmed that Zelu will miss out and that Josete is back, and set the Copa del Rey aside: "We haven't talked about Wednesday and we're not going to".
Only Marbella matters
The Cup tie against Cádiz, on Wednesday at Chapín, has not made its way into the dressing room this week, according to the coach: "The only match that exists right now is the Marbella one". Xerez arrive 13th, in the play-out place, and Marbella 14th, in the relegation zone, on the same points.
Lack of goals after Lucena
Segovia did not dwell on whether the 0-1 defeat to Ciudad de Lucena was unfair: "I don't believe in fair or unfair, I believe in putting it in or not". For the coach, the team played a complete match and lacked a finish. "We are creating plenty of chances," he added, and he believes Xerez are above average in that department.
Fali at centre-back
On Fali, whom he played at centre-back last matchday, he recalled that he had already coached him as assistant manager at Nàstic and that he performed best in that position there. "If we have to use him in defensive midfield we will, but right now I see him as a centre-back," he explained.
A changing Marbella
He noted that the opponents have gone four games without scoring, but that they change system a lot: they started with a 4-4-2 and have used 5-2-3 and 5-3-2. In their last match they defended with five and attacked in a 4-3-3. "We have worked on those situations so we know how to counter them. In the end it has to be about us," he said.
Chapín, a fortress
Segovia asked for the fans' support: "To achieve any objective you have to make your home a fortress". He wants supporters to "identify with the team, be proud and, when it's time to push, push".
