The Copa del Rey tie between Xerez CD and Cádiz CF, postponed this Wednesday, has two possible dates: next week, which would mean delaying the reseeding of the Chapín pitch by a few days, or 24 or 25 November, before the draw for the second round.

Update: the match will finally be played on Thursday 29 October at 21:00 at Chapín.

Play now and delay the reseeding

The first option would be to play the match next week, midweek. This would take advantage of the fact that Xerez CD do not play at home in the league again until 15 November, against Antoniano, although the reseeding would have to be delayed by a few days. For the squad it would mean a demanding schedule: on Sunday 1 November they visit Tamaraceite in the Canary Islands and on Sunday 8 they play away at Atlético Sanluqueño, which would make three matches in eight days.

Or wait until late November

The second option is to play it on 24 or 25 November, before the draw for the second round of the Copa del Rey. In that case, the derby would fall between the trip to Atlético Central (22 November) and the home game against Linares Deportivo (29 November), with the reseeding already finished.

With the new date, Cádiz CF supporters could have transport available to get home after the match.

A badly worn pitch

The state of the pitch was already a concern before the postponement. In the pre-match press conference, Abel Segovia admitted that the pitch "worries me, of course it does", after several matches in a row at Chapín.
