Xerez two points off the play-offs and two above the drop in a crazy group

The win in Tamaraceite (1-3) lifts Xerez CD to tenth place with 12 points. They sit two points off the play-offs and two above the relegation zone. Recreativo de Huelva pull clear at the top after beating Betis B in the game of the matchday, and Ciudad de Lucena establish themselves as the surprise of the season in second place.

Matchday 9 of Segunda RFEF, Group IV, leaves a very tight table. Only four points separate fifth place from fourteenth.

Xerez make it two league wins in a row and climb from thirteenth to tenth. With 12 points they are level with Salerm Puente Genil, Estepona and Atlético Central. They are two points behind Mijas Las Lagunas, in fifth, the last play-off spot. Below them, Tenerife B are another two points back in the first relegation place, with a game in hand after their match against Don Benito was postponed.

Recre pull clear

Recreativo de Huelva won 0-2 away at Betis B in the standout game of the matchday. José Carlos (32') and Marín (61') scored. The Huelva side have 20 points and lead on their own. Betis B drop to fourth.

Surprising Lucena in second

Ciudad de Lucena keep holding firm. They beat Atlético Sanluqueño 2-1 and tighten their grip on second place with 18 points, just two behind the leaders. They are the big surprise at the top in the early part of the season. Behind them, Badajoz are third on 16 after a 1-1 draw with Linares Deportivo.

Antoniano wake up

The surprise came at Antoniano, bottom until this matchday, who thrashed Estepona 4-1, one of the promotion candidates. Estepona went ahead through Aguilar in the 10th minute. Antoniano came back with goals from Nando (15'), Gálvez (61'), Carrascal (64') and Nacho (67'). Everything suggests the change of coach has done the Seville side good, and they move off the bottom.

Marbella fail to lift their heads

Marbella, a side expected to be near the top, drew 0-0 with Mijas Las Lagunas and still show no sign of reacting. They have 7 points and only one win in nine matchdays, and are fifteenth, in the relegation zone.

Rest of the matchday

In the other games, Sevilla Atlético and Salerm Puente Genil drew 1-1 and Atlético Central won 0-1 away at Las Palmas Atlético.

Next Sunday, at 12:30, Xerez visit Atlético Sanluqueño at El Palmar. Their opponents are thirteenth with 10 points, in the relegation play-off spot.
